Uthukela Youth Sector addresses critical challenges at meeting

HIV response, GBV and youth development were at the top of the agenda.

The UThukela District Civil Society Forum (CSF) Youth Sector conducted a successful visit to the Okhahlamba Civil Society Forum Youth Sector Task Team recently.

The delegation, comprising deputy secretary Sibusiso Blessing Madondo and chairperson Senamile Nomshado Hlongwane, engaged in a productive discussion on roles and responsibilities, focusing on collaborative efforts to address critical challenges facing the community.

The meeting was held at the Bergville sport complex boardroom.

Key areas of focus included:

  • HIV response: Contributing to closing the 1.1 million gap in HIV treatment and supporting the sub-district in achieving targets for clients on HIV treatment.
  • Youth development: Implementing strategies to reduce child and teenage pregnancy, promoting youth empowerment and driving community development initiatives.
  • GBV campaigns: Intensifying efforts to combat gender-based violence through awareness campaigns and community engagement.
  • Operational efficiency: Reducing ‘misappointments’ and enhancing service delivery to ensure effective support for the community.

The meeting underscored the commitment of the UThukela District CSF Youth Sector to strengthening partnerships and driving impactful interventions that uplift the youth and the broader community.
