The construction project in Esigodlweni commenced last year, following an official announcement by Mayor Myeza, who committed the municipality to improving road infrastructure in the area.

The minister also proceeded to another site, where he officially handed over a new bridge. He congratulated the Esigodlweni community on the completion of this new infrastructure, describing it as a major development that will benefit residents and especially schools in all weather conditions.

Hlabisa emphasised that rural communities deserve the same quality infrastructure as urban areas and welcomed the provision of tarred roads in previously neglected locations. He further noted that the bridge will be a valuable asset to the community, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall when crossing the river has historically been difficult and dangerous.
