Mayor welcomes first babies of 2026 at Dundee Hospital

Endumeni Mayor Mcebo Mkhize welcomes Dundee’s first babies of 2026 during a New Year’s Day hospital visit.

Endumeni Mayor Mcebo Mkhize marked the start of 2026 by welcoming the first babies born at Dundee Hospital on New Year’s Day.

The mayor was accompanied by Endumeni Council Speaker Andile Nsibande and municipal officials during the visit, which celebrated new life and family milestones.

Dundee Hospital recorded three births on the first day of the year. To commemorate the occasion, the mayor presented welcome packs to the families and conveyed New Year wishes to the proud parents.

Speaking during the visit, Mkhize said the first day of the year held special meaning for communities.

“The first day of the year is very important and that is why we are here today – to congratulate the parents, welcome our new citizens, and wish them well,” he said.

The visit formed part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to celebrate life, strengthen community ties and support families during important milestones.
