District’s best matriculants recognised at mayoral awards

Mayor Zama Sibisi congratulated the 'Class of 2025' and urged them to remain disciplined and committed to lifelong learning.

30 learners from schools across the Uthukela District were recognised for their outstanding academic performance at the Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayoral Matric Excellence Awards that were held today (January 23) at the Town Hall.

Proud and memorable celebration

The Town Hall was packed with parents, educators, municipal officials and community members, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and pride as the achievements of the district’s top matriculants were celebrated.

Top performer announced

During the ceremony, Alfred Duma Municipal Manager Ms Ngiba officially announced Zenanda Ntuli from Mzimela High School as the overall top-performing learner in the district. The announcement was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Support for further education

In demonstrating its commitment to education, the municipality revealed that it has paid more than 400 registration fees for the academic year, assisting learners as they transition into higher education institutions of their choice.

Addressing the award recipients, Alfred Duma Mayor Zama Sibisi congratulated the ‘Class of 2025’ and urged them to remain disciplined and committed to lifelong learning.

“I once again congratulate the ‘Class of 2025’. Stay focused and never stop learning,” said the mayor.

Keynote address inspires learners

The keynote address was delivered by Member of Parliament Nhlanhla Hadebe, who praised the learners for their exceptional achievements and encouraged them to continue striving for personal and academic growth.

“Congratulations on your remarkable accomplishments. Continue to grow through learning and never stop enriching yourselves,” he said.
