Police probe CBD shooting in Dundee

Police investigate after a man and woman are shot while seated in a vehicle in Dundee’s central business district.

Mystery continues to surround the shooting of a man and a woman in Dundee’s central business district late yesterday afternoon, January 30.

The incident occurred in Grey Street, where the pair — aged 35 and 30 and believed to be in a relationship — were seated inside a vehicle when they were approached by an unknown gunman.

South African Police Service spokesperson Sergeant Siyabonga Nkwanyana said the suspect opened fire before fleeing the scene.

“Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to a medical facility for treatment,” Nkwanyana confirmed.

Motive unknown

The motive for the attack remains unclear, and police have not yet established whether the victims were specifically targeted.

A case of attempted murder, relating to two counts, has been opened for investigation. At the time of going to print, no arrests had been made.

Police investigations are continuing, and anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact SAPS.
