Burned car containing human remains found in Winterton

The deceased has not yet been formally identified.

Police in Winterton have launched an inquest after a burnt-out vehicle containing human remains was discovered along the Colenso road near the N3 on Saturday morning (February 7).

Police responded to reports and found a car that had been extensively damaged by fire.

Human remains were found in the driver’s seat.

The deceased is believed to be a 75-year-old man, although formal identification is still pending.

Police are thoroughly investigating all possibilities regarding the incident.
