Temporary closure of 1st Avenue, Limit Hill, for N11 upgrade

The intersection is being upgraded in line with SANRAL’s new road design standards.

The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has announced a temporary road closure in the Limit Hill area as construction work continues on the N11.

The closure forms part of ongoing improvements to the N11, where the intersection at Limit Hill is being upgraded in line with SANRAL’s new road design standards.

When the closure begins

The temporary closure of 1st Avenue will take effect from Friday (February 20).

While construction activities at the site are expected to take approximately three weeks, the road closure is anticipated to remain in place for up to eight weeks to accommodate the full scope of work, and ensure the safety of both residents and construction teams.

Alternative route

The closure will affect 1st Avenue in Limit Hill, which serves as a key access route for residents in the area.

Motorists and residents who normally make use of 1st Avenue are urged to plan their travels accordingly during the construction period.

During the closure, residents are advised to use 3rd Avenue as the primary entry and exit route into the Limit Hill area. Clear signage and traffic management measures are expected to be in place to guide road-users safely through the alternative route.

Apology for the inconvenience

SANRAL and its appointed contractor apologise for the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause to residents and road-users.

The agency thanks the Limit Hill community for its patience and co-operation, emphasising that the upgrades are aimed at improving road safety, traffic flow and long-term infrastructure in the area.
