Watch: Hero K9 cop on police helicopter, in race to find missing person

A body was spotted in the mountains by a passerby.

A search operation was launched in the Upper Tugela area this morning (February 18) as K9 officer Jacques Meyer took to the skies in a helicopter to find a body.

Meyer was deployed to the mountainous terrain along the border between Lesotho and South Africa following reports that a body had been spotted in the area.

According to police, a person in the area had been missing since February 8. After being told about the missing person, police acted on the information by initiating an aerial search to locate and recover the body.

However, deteriorating weather conditions over the mountains forced the team to suspend the operation before it could be completed.

Meyer confirmed that the search will resume later this week once weather conditions improve.
