uThukela District Municipality has released a media statement acknowledging that its bank account has been attached, but that it is taking the necessary steps to remedy the situation. The statement reads as follows:

uThukela District Municipality confirms that its bank account has been attached following legal action instituted by RASP Consultants CC. The municipality has been transparent about this matter since it occurred.

Engagement with provincial authorities

The relevant provincial departments, including CoGTA and Provincial Treasury, have been formally advised.

Special council meetings convened

A Special EXCO meeting and a Special Council sitting were convened on Tuesday (February 17) to formally notify Council of the developments and the steps being taken.

Urgent court application

The municipality is approaching the court on an urgent basis to seek a stay of execution of the order.

Commitment to service continuity

uThukela appeals for calm, as every step is being taken to ensure continuity of service without compromise to all its stakeholders.
