#Throwback Friday for the year 1996
Here are some of the stories that made headlines 30 years ago.
Back in time to 1996
Let’s go back in time to Friday, January 12, 1996. That week, the town experienced flooding, with more than 160 people affected. The water level in the Klip River was recorded at 1.2m.Â

Page 5 of the same edition showed more photos of the flooding. However, they were in black and white.Â

Wedding bells
Page 11 had ‘the sweet sound of wedding bells’, showing happy couples who had tied the knot. They sent in their wedding photos to the Ladysmith Gazette to be published.Â

Top pupil at Lasec
In the edition of January 19, we had top pupil at Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec), Nishaal Tulsie, who achieved three A’s and three B’s.Â

Back to school
January 26 featured all the little ones going back to school.Â
