The court has ordered funds to be returned to uThukela District Municipality.
Court orders immediate release of funds
The Pietermaritzburg High Court has directed that all attachments and garnishees on uThukela District Municipality’s bank accounts be lifted immediately. The court has further ordered that any funds withdrawn be returned to the municipality within 48 hours.
Additionally, the respondents are restrained from initiating or acting upon any further writs of execution related to this matter until Part B of the application is finalised.
uThukela welcomes the High Court ruling that provides urgent relief by ordering the suspension of the execution process which led to the attachment of the municipality’s bank accounts.

This judgment brings urgent relief to the municipality, enabling it to continue providing essential services to the residents of uThukela District without disruption.
