Contractor repairs major burst pipe in Farquhar Road

Leaking pipes across the municipality, including the one in Farquhar Road, were among the concerns raised at the water crisis meeting.

A major burst pipe in Farquhar Road, which residents have complained about for some time, is currently being repaired. The burst has affected water supply in several areas, with some residents experiencing reduced water pressure while others have reported complete water outages.

Issue raised during water crisis meeting

The leaking pipe also came into focus during yesterday’s water crisis meeting addressing financial and water challenges facing uThukela District Municipality. The meeting was attended by National Minister of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) Velenkosini Hlabisa, together with a provincial government delegation, the Business Chamber, and members of civil society.

Leaking pipes across the municipality, including the one in Farquhar Road, were among the concerns raised during discussions about the ongoing water supply problems.

Contractor on site to fix pipe

Today (March 10), uThukela District Municipality issued a notice confirming that a contractor is on site to repair the burst pipe.

According to the municipality

“The service provider is on site to repair a major burst pipe in Farquhar Road. which has drastically reduced pressure and caused water outages in some areas supplied by the Klip River station.”

uThukela said the community will be updated on the progress of the repairs, and thanked residents for their patience and understanding while work continues.
