Vryheid athletes shine at races and farm run
VAC athletes compete nationally while others enjoy a memorable farm run experience.
The past couple of weeks were active and memorable weeks for members of the Vryheid Athletic Club (VAC), with athletes representing the club at races across the country and others enjoying a unique farm run experience closer to home.
VAC athletes compete in national races
On Saturday, March 28, two VAC athletes competed in official races. Michéelle Baeta took part in the SASOL Half Marathon in Sasolburg, finishing in a commendable time of 02:09:35. Tholiwe Hlobe showed determination in the NMC Fast Race in Nelspruit, completing the event in 05:41:42.
Farm run offers a change of pace
Meanwhile, a group of VAC members opted for something different, taking part in a farm run and hike. The outing offered a refreshing change from the usual routine, with participants tackling challenging terrain while enjoying the natural surroundings.
Morning of adventure and camaraderie
The morning was described as one filled with adventure, laughter and camaraderie, as runners navigated the course, at times getting lost, and embraced the peaceful environment.
Gratitude to hosts
The club extended its gratitude to the Duminy family for hosting the event and providing refreshments, noting that the arrangements exceeded expectations.
More than just running
Members said the experience highlighted that running is not only about distance and performance, but also about shared moments and building lasting memories. The club expressed hope that the farm run will become a regular tradition, with even more members taking part in future.
