Community-driven initiative

According to event organiser Stephney van der Plank, the tournament was initiated and sponsored by Cole Davids. The primary aim was to raise funds for the community, particularly to support elderly residents, while also addressing the growing concern of drug abuse among youth in Fairleigh and Siyahlala.

Van der Plank explained that the initiative was designed to create positive opportunities for young people and to steer them away from harmful influences. With strong community support, she co-ordinated the event to ensure its success.

Chelmsford Combined School generously provided the venue, allowing the tournament to take place on its grounds.

Building a safer future for the youth

The event proved to be a resounding success, with many already expressing excitement for future tournaments.

In addition to sponsoring the event, Davids donated three soccer kits to help keep young people actively engaged in sport and away from drugs.

The organisers have confirmed that this initiative will not be limited to Easter, with plans to expand similar events to Youth Day and other occasions throughout the year.
