Municipality launches clean-up at illegal dumping site
Clean-up efforts are set to restore Madadeni.
Newcastle Municipality’s waste management department has launched a clean-up campaign at an illegal dumping site in Madadeni Ward 23.
Clean-up targets high-risk area near school
The site, located next to Mbukeni Primary School, was prioritised as part of efforts to reinforce the municipality’s commitment to building a cleaner and healthier community.
“Illegal dumping not only harms the environment but also poses serious health risks to residents,” said a municipal spokesperson.
“Our team worked diligently to remove waste, restore the area and improve the surroundings for everyone who lives and works nearby.”
Mayor urges community to take responsibility
Mayor DX Dube stressed the importance of environmental protection and community involvement.
“We encourage all residents to play their part by using designated waste disposal sites and reporting illegal dumping,” he said.
“Keeping Newcastle clean is a shared responsibility. Let us protect our environment together.”
