VHS choir earns silver at ATKV Applous festival
VHS celebrates choir success, blood donations and strong PSG league performances.
On May 6, the Vryheid High School choir travelled to Ferrum High School to participate in the prestigious ATKV Applous Streekfees.
The choir delivered an outstanding performance and proudly returned home with a silver award. Their dedication, talent, and countless hours of practice were evident on stage, making the school extremely proud. Congratulations to every choir member and conductor on this wonderful achievement.
Learners give back through blood donation
On May, Vryheid High School hosted a successful blood donation drive at the school. Learners and staff once again showed their willingness to make a difference in the lives of others.
A total of 129 donors participated in the drive, resulting in 95 units of blood being collected. These donations have the potential to save up to 285 lives.
The school would like to thank every donor for their selfless contribution and willingness to help those in need.
PSG league season gets underway
On May 9, Vryheid High School hosted Empangeni High School for the first PSG league fixture of the season. It was an exciting day filled with competitive rugby, netball, hockey, and chess matches.
Rugby teams dominate on the field

The rugby teams produced several dominant performances, with strong victories across most age groups.
Netball teams show resilience

The netball girls showed determination and resilience throughout the day, with several closely contested matches.
Hockey teams impress with teamwork

• 2nd Girls vs VHS 2nd Boys: 3–1
• First Girls: 4–0
• First Boys: 0–3
The hockey teams displayed excellent teamwork and sportsmanship, with notable victories from the U/16 and First Girls teams.

May 15 – Eco Club Cave Walk
The Eco Club will be taking part in an exciting cave walk experience, giving learners the opportunity to explore nature and enjoy outdoor learning.
May 16 – PSG Fixture vs Richards Bay High School (Away)
