A seven-year-old boy dies after a vehicle overturns in Sasko on Saturday morning.

A seven-year-old boy was killed and another child seriously injured after a vehicle allegedly lost control and overturned in Sasko (Vryheid) this morning (Saturday).

Accident occurs along Sasko main road

According to information received from a reliable source close to the investigation, the incident occurred at about 10:30 along the Sasko main road.

Vehicle allegedly loses control

It is alleged that the driver of a silver vehicle was travelling north with a passenger when the vehicle reportedly lost control on a bend, left the roadway and struck two children and a tree before overturning.

The deceased child, identified as seven-year-old Asemahle Thabede, was declared dead at the scene.

Another child seriously injured

Another child suffered serious injuries to both legs and was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle also sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

Police investigation continues

Police have not yet released further details as investigations continue.
