Firefighters quickly contain Newcastle house fire

Emergency services extinguished the flames before the fire could spread.

Newcastle law enforcement and emergency services swiftly responded to a call for help after a house caught fire in Drakensberg Drive earlier this afternoon (May 21).

Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames before the blaze could spread through the property.

Fire contained

According to a source at the scene, who was not authorised to speak to the media, the fire was contained to one bedroom and a bathroom.

The source said emergency crews managed to prevent the flames from spreading to the rest of the house.

The exact cause will need to be confirmed through an official investigation.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
