Glencoe police have appealed for help to identify a man found dead and locate his family.

Glencoe police have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying a man who was found dead in the area and tracing his family.

The deceased, believed to be between 25 and 32 years old, was found hanging at Uelzen Primary School in April. He was approximately 1.75m tall, dark in complexion and was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of his discovery.

Police seek relatives

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Siyabonga Nkwanyana, preliminary investigations revealed that an alleged suicide note was found at the scene.

“In the note, the deceased mentioned a woman identified as Bongekile Mvelase, whom he referred to as his sister and who is believed to be residing in Dundee,” said Sergeant Nkwanyana.

The body was transported to the Dundee Mortuary, where it remains while investigations continue and efforts are made to establish the man’s identity.

Police are urging anyone who may have information that could assist in identifying the deceased or locating his relatives to come forward.

“We appeal to members of the community who may know the deceased or his family to contact the investigating officer. The cooperation of the community in this matter will be highly appreciated,” said Sergeant Nkwanyana.

Anyone with information can contact Detective Sergeant Sonja du Plooy on 034 329 0042 or the Crime Stop hotline on 0800 10111.
