Golf day drives support for Dundee Adult Care Centre

Golfers will tee off for a worthy cause while competing for a R50,000 hole-in-one prize.

Some of the sharpest minds in local business and golf will come together on June 27 when Dundee Country Club hosts the Pick n Pay Dundee Adult Care Centre Golf Day.

The event promises a memorable day on the fairways while raising vital funds for the Dundee Adult Care Centre and supporting the continued development of Dundee Country Club.

With Dundee Pick n Pay contributing R170,000 towards the event, one fortunate golfer could walk away with R50,000 for a hole-in-one.

A further R80,000 will be donated to the Adult Care Centre, while the remaining funds will benefit Dundee Country Club.

Ian Marx of Dundee Pick n Pay has secured the support of numerous suppliers who will sponsor prizes and add to the festivities with refreshments and entertainment on the course.

Marx said the event demonstrates the importance of businesses investing in the communities they serve.

“As the late Raymond Ackerman often said, ‘Doing good is good business. If we rebuild our economy on this basis, our future will be secure’. We are proud to support an initiative that not only brings the community together, but also makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the residents at the Adult Care Centre.”

Professional golfer adds extra excitement

Interest in the event has been overwhelming, with 80 golfers already signed up. To accommodate demand, additional golf carts have been sourced from Estcourt to supplement the club’s existing fleet.

Dundee Country Club president Louis Albertse and his team have also attracted strong sponsorship support, with tee boxes and greens already sponsored by local businesses eager to support the initiative and promote their brands.

Adding to the excitement, professional golfer Rigardt Albertse, son of club president Louis Albertse, will be available to join one lucky four-ball on the day.

Albertse, a proud Dundee Country Club member who competes on the Sunshine Tour and Altron Big Easy Tour, will be auctioned to the highest-bidding team before play begins. The tournament will be played in a four-ball American Scramble format, making the opportunity to have a touring professional in the team even more appealing.

Adult Care Centre chairperson Willie Steenberg welcomed the enthusiastic response and said the proceeds would provide much-needed support for the intellectually challenged residents in the centre’s care.

In addition to the golf, raffles offering a range of attractive prizes are already under way.

Participants and spectators can also look forward to a potjiekos meal, live music and an exciting fundraising auction.

Anyone wishing to get involved can contact the Adult Care Centre or Dundee Country Club for more information.
