Marchers give landlords 7 days’ notice to evict illegal immigrants

The marchers called for stricter enforcement of immigration laws.

The ‘March and March until we Win’ movement and Ezakheni community took to the streets today (June 16) to voice their concerns over the presence of illegal foreign nationals in the area. The march also targeted property owners accused of providing accommodation to undocumented immigrants.

Seven-day notice issued to property owners

In a letter directed to property owners, the march organisers gave landlords a seven-day notice to remove undocumented occupants from their properties.

The letter stated, “You are hereby given seven days from the date of this notice to ensure that all undocumented immigrants vacate your property.”

March ends at B-Section Community Hall

The march proceeded through D-Section and C-Section before ending at the B-Section Community Hall. Participants carried placards and sang songs as they called for stricter enforcement of immigration laws and greater accountability from property owners who rent accommodation to undocumented individuals.
