Municipality intensifies efforts to keep Newcastle clean
Municipal teams tackle maintenance work across key areas to improve public spaces, safety and the town’s appearance.
Newcastle Municipality is intensifying its service delivery efforts to ensure that the town remains clean, safe and well maintained.
Municipal teams target key areas
This was evident last week when multiple Community Services teams were deployed along key routes, including the intersection of Allen Street and the N11, as well as in Siyahlala-la.
According to a statement shared on the municipality’s official Facebook page, the initiative aims to create cleaner, safer and more attractive public spaces for residents and visitors.
Municipal teams carried out grass-cutting, litter collection and general maintenance activities, with particular attention given to areas around the town’s entrances to improve their appearance.
Municipality calls for community support
“These routine maintenance efforts form part of the municipality’s commitment to improving public spaces, promoting environmental cleanliness, enhancing road safety and creating a more welcoming urban environment for all,” read the statement.
The municipality also calls on residents, businesses and community stakeholders to contribute towards keeping their surroundings clean and well maintained.
“A cleaner Newcastle starts with all of us. Together, we can build a cleaner, greener and more vibrant city,” the statement concluded.
