Volunteers called upon to renovate 84 SPCA kennels in 1 day
It's all happening during the 'Paint a Cage, Change a Life' volunteer day.
The Newcastle Lions Club, together with Sealpro Waterproofing and Construction, is inviting members of the public to join a community volunteer day at the Newcastle SPCA on Saturday, July 18.
The ‘Paint a Cage, Change a Life – Mission Pawsible‘ initiative aims to restore / renovate the 84 kennels at the Newcastle SPCA, creating a safer, cleaner and more comfortable environment for the animals while they wait to be adopted.
Volunteers will help with sanding and painting the kennels, as well as the palisade fencing. Every brushstroke will help provide the animals with a better place to stay while they await their forever homes.
Community support will make a difference
The initiative also provides the community with an opportunity to give back and thank the SPCA for the vital work it carries out every day.
Entrance is free. However, every family or team is encouraged to donate either two cans of dog or cat food; one bag of dry dog or cat food; or items such as blankets, toys or cleaning supplies.
Activities planned for the day include:
- Fun children’s activities, including face painting;
- A certificate of appreciation for every participant who contributes towards the project;
- Delicious sponsored wors rolls and cool drinks after completing a kennel.
Limited spaces are available, so residents are encouraged to book their kennel today by pre-registering their family or team before July 10.
To register, contact 082 056 6575 or email accounts@sealpronewcastle.co.za
