uThukela promotes health and well-being

The Wellness Day included a fun walk, aerobics, fitness sessions and board games.

uThukela District Municipality hosted a Wellness Day at the municipal parking area in Forbes Street yesterday (June 18), under the theme ‘Healthy Employees, Productive Workplace’.

The event brought together employees, management, councillors and stakeholders to promote health, wellness and well-being in the workplace.

Wellness activities and health services

Employees participated in a variety of activities, including a fun walk, health and disease screenings, aerobics, fitness sessions, board games, playing cards, umlabalaba and ingqathu.

Stakeholders from the departments of Health, Agriculture and Social Development; NGO Mpilonhle; SANCO; medical aid providers; NJMPF; Sanlam; and Old Mutual provided wellness information, screenings and support services.

Leadership encourages healthy living

Municipal Manager Mr LS Jili, General Manager: Corporate Services Mr OS Mnguni and Cllr MM Khoza attended the event and engaged with the employees. Jili encouraged the staff to prioritise their health, emphasising that a healthy workforce contributes to improved productivity, effective service delivery and organisational success.

Commitment to employee well-being

The Wellness Day also strengthened teamwork, employee engagement and workplace morale. uThukela District Municipality reaffirmed its commitment to creating a healthy and supportive work environment through ongoing wellness initiatives for employees.
