Final Ward 3 Fun Walk marks Harriram’s farewell

Cllr Connie Harriram celebrated community spirit at her final Ward 3 Fun Walk before leaving office.

Cllr Connie Harriram confided last week that Saturday’s ‘Ward 3 Fun Walk’ will be the last she is hosting as she will not be standing for elections again this November.

Harriram ran the Ward 3 Fun Walk annually to coincide with Youth Day saying that sports gives youth an opportunity to engage in a fulfilling and meaningful activity that fosters, not only physical fitness, but teamwork and social interaction as well.

Harriram hopes tradition continues

She now hopes that the incoming councillor for Ward 3 will continue with the tradition.

“The sports events I hosted during my term as ward councillor was a way for me to give back to the community that supported me. The Fun Walk is something everyone can participate in and have an enjoyable day,” said Harriram.

“Each and every participant received a medal and it was so special to see the happiness on the children’s faces when they came up to collect their medals.”

Community support recognised

Harriram thanked ward committee chairperson, Marvelous Mhlanga, for his hard work in coordinating the Fun Walk with the assistance of the ward committee members.

She further thanked all of the local businesses and individuals who sponsored prizes for the event.
