Suspected drug dealer arrested in Ladysmith

The drugs, including rock cocaine and crystal meth, have a street value of about R10,000.

A 30-year-old man suspected of being a drug dealer appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (June 24).

Ladysmith Visible Policing Unit officers arrested the man in the Plaza area of Lyell Street yesterday after receiving information about an individual allegedly involved in drug dealing.

Acting on the tip-off, police located a suspect matching the description that had been provided.

Search and seizure

Police searched the man and recovered a significant quantity of illegal substances, including:

* 140 red and white capsules, suspected to be heroin
* 36 pieces of rock cocaine
* 5 packets of crystal meth
* 3 mandrax tablets

In addition, the officers found more than R4000 cash in the man’s possession.

Arrest and charges

The suspect was immediately arrested and charged with dealing in drugs.

Estimated street value

The authorities estimate that the street value of the recovered drugs is approximately R10,000.
