Man found dead in open field in Glencoe

Police are investigating after a man was found dead with injuries in an open field.

Police are investigating a murder after the body of a man was discovered in an open field off Celle Street, Glencoe, last Tuesday afternoon.

According to sources who are not authorised to speak to the media, officers responded to the scene at about 4.30pm after receiving reports of the incident.

The deceased, believed to be a man with the surname Mncube, was found with visible bruises and other injuries to his body.

The body was discovered in an open field next to the abattoir.

The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation and the motive has not yet been established.

A murder case has been opened at Glencoe Police Station.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the South African Police Service.
