Dannhauser residents demand action as water outage enters fourth day
Residents in parts of Dannhauser have been without water for four days, with growing frustration over what they describe as a lack of communication and support from the Amajuba District Municipality.
Helping Hands community organisation representative Farzanah Dookie said residents have repeatedly been told that water would be restored “today” or “tomorrow”, but the supply has yet to return.
“Our area has been without water for four days now. Amajuba keeps promising ‘today’ or ‘tomorrow’, but nothing happens,” said Dookie.
She said residents had been informed that a damaged pipeline, allegedly caused by a community member, was responsible for the interruption.
“If that is the hold-up, then tell us so we can help fix it,” she said.
Dookie added that no water tankers had been deployed to affected areas despite the prolonged outage.
“There have been no water trucks, no accountability and no response to our calls. We need water restored today. Enough stories,” she said.
She appealed to the municipality to provide clear updates on the situation and ensure residents have access to clean water while repairs are underway.
At the time of publication, the Amajuba District Municipality had not responded to requests for comment.
