The route for today’s March and March

It's been a slow start for the planned march.

It’s all quiet at the moment, with only a handful of marchers having arrived at the kick-off point of the ‘March and March’ event, which is the Settlers Park grounds.

The expected route

The march will start from Settlers Park and go up Murchison Street to the police station, where they are scheduled to hand over a memorandum.

They will then continue up Poort Road and turn into Keate Street, go past the court and then hand another memorandum over at Home Affairs opposite the Oval Shopping Centre.

Then they will proceed down Alexandra Street to Forbes Street, head over the steel bridge past RS Butchery, past Dave’s Panelbeaters, then over the Princess Street Bridge and back, finally heading back to Settlers Park.

Keep doors closed

Police have asked that, while the march is underway, businesses along the route should please close their doors until the marchers have passed to avoid any possible incidents.

Many shops have remained closed today (June 30).
