A dead dog was found among rubble that had been illegally dumped at the corner of Van Der Bijl and Marconi streets in the Riverside Industrial Area.

The Newcastle Advertiser received a call from a frustrated business owner in the area, who said she was disgusted after discovering the dog’s carcass lying next to the road.

Businesses raise concerns

“This is disgusting! We have clients who do not want to travel to our premises anymore because of the continuous illegal dumping in the area. When will this come to an end?” she said.

The business owner said the persistent dumping is not only an eyesore, but also affects local businesses and discourages customers from visiting the area.

Municipality yet to respond

We have contacted the municipality for comment on the matter, but had not received a response at the time of publishing this article.
