Residents in parts of the area are without electricity following an incident of vandalism at the corner of Mason and Heeren streets.

Technicians assess damage

AbaQulusi Local Municipality said municipal technicians have assessed the damage and are sourcing the materials needed to carry out the necessary repairs.

The municipality estimates that electricity supply will be restored within approximately six hours, although this may depend on the extent of the damage and the progress of the repair work.

Residents urged to take precautions

Residents are urged to treat all electrical connections, appliances and installations as live during the outage, as electricity may be restored without prior notice.
