Newcastle Lions Club presents self-defence session

The Newcastle Lions Club will host a self-defence session in honour of Women’s Month from 09:00 to 13:00.
Registration is free. However, donations of newborn baby clothes and products are welcome and will be used as part of the Lions Club’s Mother and Baby Project.
The venue will be disclosed upon registration.

Hugo Brokers CC presents annual HCW Golf Day
- Saturday, August 15:
Hugo Brokers CC will host its annual Golf Day at the Newcastle Golf Club.
Entry costs R300 per player and includes lunch. Registration starts at 08:00, with the shotgun start at 10:00.
The day will follow a four-ball American scramble format. Players can look forward to a variety of watering holes around the course, as well as numerous prizes, including a R50 000 hole-in-one prize.

Newcastle Community Medical Outreach
- Sunday, August 16:
The Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa, together with the Ramakrishna Clinic of South Africa’s Durban branch, invites members of the community in need of medical attention to attend the community medical outreach.
The clinic will run from 07:00 to 13:00 at Lennoxton Primary School.
There is no cost involved and no registration is required.

Newcastle Lions Club to host Golf 4 Good Fundraiser Golf Day
- Saturday, September 12:
The Newcastle Lions Club will host its Golf 4 Good Fundraiser Golf Day at the Newcastle Golf Club.
Entry costs R300 per player and includes lunch. Proceeds from the day will go towards a variety of charitable causes, including childhood cancer initiatives and feeding schemes.
The shotgun start is at 10:00, so get there early to register.
Dundee Tourism presents Biggarsberg Cycle Challenge
- September 27:
Dundee Tourism will host the 2026 Biggarsberg Cycle Challenge on September 27. The race will start and end at the Talana Museum in Dundee.
The race will be an all-tar road race and will see cyclists conquer three mountain passes, which include Glencoe Pass, Mpathi Pass, and Endumeni Pass.
The categories will include the following:
- Men and Women
- Junior (17-19)
- Open (19-39)
- Veteren (40-49)
- Masters (50-59)
- Grand Masters (59 and over)
Distance and entrance fees:
- The 100 km race starts at 07:00, and entrance costs R300 per cyclist.
- The 45 km race will start at 07:15, and entrance costs R100 per cyclist.
