A joint operation by the Vryheid SAPS Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) and AbaQulusi Public Safety resulted in the arrest of a man and the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit goods yesterday (Thursday).

Vehicle intercepted on R69

Members received information about a white Nissan X-Trail with ZN registration plates that was allegedly transporting counterfeit goods from the eManguzi area towards Dundee.

The vehicle was later spotted travelling along the R69 Vryheid/Hlobane Road and was intercepted near King Shenge Village.

A male suspect was arrested during the operation by members of Vryheid SAPS and AbaQulusi Public Safety.

Counterfeit shoes seized

The operation was conducted in terms of the Counterfeit Goods Act 37 of 1997.

The following items were seized and registered as exhibits under SAP13/2026:

• One white Nissan X-Trail with ZN registration plates.
• Eighteen bales containing counterfeit shoes, including brands such as Nike, Adidas, New Balance and Jordan.

The operation highlights continued efforts by local law enforcement agencies to combat the distribution and transportation of counterfeit goods in the area.
