Fuel stations in Vryheid reportedly run short of petrol and diesel
Several Vryheid filling stations reportedly run short of fuel ahead of the expected September price adjustment.
Some motorists in town have reportedly found a few filling stations out of fuel, with shortages reported ahead of the expected September fuel price adjustment.
Reports received indicate that several petrol stations in town have experienced a lack of petrol and diesel supply.
The reports come as motorists face the prospect of another fuel price increase next week. Fuel prices in South Africa are adjusted monthly by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, based on local and international factors.
CEF tracking points to sharp increases
Current Central Energy Fund tracking has pointed to significant increases across the fuel grades, although these figures are projections and are not the final prices.
The latest estimates indicate an increase of about 90 cents per litre for petrol 93 and approximately R1.01 for petrol 95. Diesel is projected to increase by considerably more, with estimates of around R2.88 per litre for 0.05% diesel and R3.09 for 0.005% diesel.
The official September adjustment has not yet been confirmed by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.
Supply concerns raised among motorists
The reported shortages in Vryheid have raised questions among motorists about whether local supply problems are connected to the impending price adjustment.
A reliable source familiar with fuel supply said shortages of this nature can occur ahead of a fuel price increase, particularly when Friday falls close to month-end and the expected price adjustment. The source indicated that this is not an unusual occurrence during such periods.
Motorists advised to check availability
Motorists are advised to check fuel availability at individual filling stations before travelling to refuel, as some stations may be out of fuel.
