The trial of two men accused of murdering police clerk Siphiwe Ndlovu in November 2024 will continue in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court on September 7.

Ndlovu was attacked and stabbed several times in Section 18, Sibongile, in the early hours of the morning while walking home to his house in McKenzie Street.

He was reportedly robbed of his personal belongings during the attack.

Suspects traced following investigation

Detective Warrant Officer Anthony Nkabini, who investigated the case, followed up on leads and eventually located two suspects, Mandla Mbuyisa and Amandla Mthetwa, in the Dundee and Kingsley areas respectively.

Both men abandoned their bail application on April 23 and have remained in custody.

Several state and defence witnesses have already testified during the proceedings.

Ndlovu remembered for sporting talent

Ndlovu was a former Dundee High School learner who was well known in the community for his involvement in sport, including rugby, action cricket and bowls.

He also had close ties with the Courier, where he served as an intern and became a familiar face at the newspaper’s offices.

Ndlovu played for the Courier action cricket and bowls teams and was remembered by colleagues for his involvement both on and off the field.

From journalism to the SAPS

Ndlovu later joined the South African Police Service as a clerk, working in Dundee and Durban with the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit before being transferred back to Dundee.

His death shocked friends, former colleagues and members of the local sporting community, who remembered him as an active and well-liked member of the Dundee community.

The matter returns to court on September 7, when proceedings are expected to continue.
