Gazette staff wear black to take a stand against GBV
The newspaper staff have united with South Africans around the country in a strong call to end gender-based violence.
The staff at the Ladysmith Gazette are wearing black today (September 18) as a show of solidarity with women and families affected by gender-based violence (GBV).

The Gazette initiative forms part of a nationwide call for South Africans to ‘Wear Black’ today, standing together against violence targeting women and children.
More than just wearing black
For the Gazette team, wearing black is more than a gesture of solidarity. It is a visible statement that gender-based violence cannot be ignored and that communities, organisations and individuals all have a role to play in confronting the scourge.
Remembering victims and supporting survivors
The campaign message calls on South Africans to remember the victims; support survivors; and demand action, accountability and justice for those affected by GBV.
