Harpo Primary School recently hosted a Grade 5 Water Awareness Campaign aimed at raising awareness about water shortages affecting the school and surrounding community.

Learners explore practical solutions

The campaign was organised by Grade 5 Life Skills educator Mr Kubeka, with support from Grade 4 and Grade 6 educators Mr Mhlungu and Mr Mthimkhulu.

Learners took part in activities focused on finding practical ways to save water and protect water quality. They shared creative ideas and demonstrated responsibility and innovation while looking at how they could help address water challenges in their community.

Building skills through the E³ framework

According to Kubeka, the initiative formed part of the E³ framework – Entrepreneurial, Employable and Educated – which aims to equip learners with skills for the future.

The campaign linked environmental awareness with skills development, showing learners how small actions can contribute to sustainable solutions and make a difference in their communities.

Support from Stilwater Natural Spring Water

The event also received support from Stilwater Natural Spring Water. Representatives from the company motivated the learners and highlighted the importance of working together to protect water resources.
