Monument proud of their learners

Congratulations to all the young sports stars on their achievements

Monument Primary School took part in the Umbani 5s netball and hockey, and 7s rugby tournament held at Ferrum High School in Newcastle on Saturday (July 27). The teams did extremely well.

The following teams won silver: U/11 rugby, U/11 hockey, U/11 netball and U/13 netball.

The U/13 hockey team won gold.

After every game, a ‘man of the match’ was chosen. The following learners received certificates for ‘man of the match’: U/11 netball – Cebokazi Ngwenya; U/13 netball – Zamantusi Mngadi and Zanothando Mdlalose; U/11 hockey – Elihle Hadebe and Zaby Buquane; U/13 hockey – Madison Dedekind and Luné Coetsee; U/11 rugby – Lubanzi Buthelezi, Connor McMaster and Zian Mostert; and U/13 rugby – Musa Madonsela.

Touring teams were also selected. For netball, the following players were selected: Lelanie Marais, Zanothando Mdlalose and Zamantusi Mngadi.

In hockey, Luné Coetsee was selected and she also received the ‘player of the tournament’ award.

For rugby, Lubanzi Mdladla was selected.
