Bhekundi Secondary School held its annual awards ceremony at the Wembezi Hall today (October 18), where the learners who performed very well in their studies were rewarded. The event was attended by school principal Mr Gumbi, teachers, Ward 8 Councillor Madinane, pastors and Grade 12 learners.

The matrics were also prayed for; they will be writing their final exams soon.

Principal Gumbi said they were there to praise God and give thanks for all the blessings He has bestowed on the school since the beginning of the year. Gumbi also gave words of thanks to the parents for supporting their children and helping them to achieve such good marks.

School Governing Body chairperson Mr Maseme then encouraged the learners to continue working hard at university and holding the school’s name high.

Here are the top three in each grade:

Grade 8: 1. Ayabonga Mbhele, 2. Siyamthanda Mkhwanazi, 3. Anele Mabaso.

Grade 9: 1. Senamile Mazibuko, 2. Akhona Kubheka, 3. Thobe Madondo.

Grade 10: 1. Lusanda Phiri, 2. Owami Shezi, 3. Nqobile Maringa.

Grade 11: 1. Nokwanda Radebe, 2. Lindile Mzolo, 3. Aphiwe Dlamini.

Grade 12: 1. Silondiwe Sithole, 2. Aphiwe Gumede, 3. Thabiso Hadebe.
