Vryheid High ended the week with a netball fund-raiser
Vryheid High School (VHS) took on Sarel Cilliers in action-packed sports matches on Wednesday last week. Rugby, netball, chess and hockey teams went head-to-head. The results saw both schools claiming victories in various age groups and sporting codes.
Rugby results:
The VHS rugby teams racked up promising performances, with the U/14, U/15 and second teams securing impressive wins against their Sarel Cilliers counterparts. However, the U/16 team and the first team succumbed to defeat.
Netball results:
The netball matches were closely contested, with VHS’s U/14-A and second teams finding themselves on the losing end. The U/14-B, U/16-A, U/16-B and first team claimed decisive victories. The U/15-A game ended in a draw.
Hockey results:
In the girls’ hockey matches, VHS’s U/14 and U/16 team secured victories. However, the second and first teams suffered defeat. The boys’ hockey teams also had mixed results, with the second and first team losing.
Chess results:
Unfortunately, the chess teams lost 4-6.
Big thanks to the coaches from both VHS and Sarel Cilliers for their tireless efforts in preparing their teams for the big day. VHS also extends gratitude to the sports masters, Mr Purchase and Mr Dube, for their organisation and co-ordination of the event.
Vryheid High ended the week with a netball fund-raiser, where all the teachers had the courage to be pied by the learners. The children grabbed the opportunity with both hands!
