Vryheid High shines in sport, culture and community events
Vryheid High hosts rugby, netball, choir and culinary events, uniting schools and community.
Vryheid High School was abuzz with energy over the weekend as it played host to a thrilling combination of Rugby 7s and Fast 5 Netball, drawing in schools and supporters from across the region.
The school’s fields and courts came alive during the 7s Rugby Tournament and Fast 5 Netball Competition, with teams showing off their skills, speed and sportsmanship.
In the under-15 rugby division, Vryheid High’s young side emerged victorious after a hard-fought final, bringing pride to the home crowd. The under-17 rugby honours went to Ferrum High, who displayed excellent teamwork and grit to claim the trophy.
On the netball courts, Pionier High’s under-15 girls impressed with their swift passing and sharp shooting to secure first place, while Curro Salt Rock’s under-17 team took the top spot with a strong performance throughout the day.
The school will be hosting a Choir Festival on August 15 at 18:00 in the school hall. Tickets are available at R50. The evening promises to be a celebration of music and harmony from various talented choirs.
Adding to the list of recent successes, Vryheid High’s Grade 12 learners held a Restaurant Evening, where guests were treated to a night of excellent food, warm hospitality and a lively atmosphere. The event was well-received, with parents and community members praising the learners for their professionalism and creativity.
From fierce competition on the sports field to cultural celebrations in the school hall, Vryheid High has once again proven its ability to bring the community together in the spirit of excellence and pride.
