Dance, singing and poetry performances by St Dominics Newcastle Dance and Drama Clubs at Saturday’s Family Fun Day showcased not only the talent of the learners, but the school’s focus on holistic development as well.
Vinesh Dewlall who is the Deputy Head of St Dominics Newcastle, as well as the Head of Academics, said he enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate the wide range of extracurricular activities available at the school which allow learners to explore and advance their natural talent and creativity.
Proceeds from the event will go towards revamping the school hall with new lights and curtains to ensure the Dance and Drama Clubs continue to have a functional space to practice and perform.
Offering a wide array of mouth-watering eats, sweet treats, crafts and toys, Vinesh described the Family Fun Day and Night Market as ‘a beautiful event with a great turnout’.
“It was a day of wholesome, family-friendly fun where members of the community could enjoy themselves in a safe environment,” said Dewlall.
“The feedback we got from the public is that we should start a little later in the afternoon and extend our hours to end later at night. We will definitely take that input into consideration when we start planning for next year’s event.”
Dewlall said the highlight of the event was the number of feet at the school.
“To have so many people on campus supporting us was very exciting,” he concluded.
