Volksrust golfers show resilience at NWU Super-16 event

Volksrust High School's young golfers overcame wet conditions to finish at the NWU Super 16.

Volksrust High School’s young golfers proudly competed in the NWU Super-16 Golf Series at the Goldfields West Golf Club on April 24.

The team consisted of Caitlyn Swiegers (Grade 12), Jacques Cronje (Grade 9), Zander Lottering (Grade 9) and Divan Ueckerman (Grade 8).

Despite the wet and rainy weather conditions, the golfers managed to finish in ninth overall against strong competition.

Wet conditions disrupt play

According to Marietjie Steyn, the course was extremely wet, with heavy rain forcing play to be suspended after nine holes.

Despite the challenging conditions, Steyn said the players remained calm and delivered accurate shots under the pressure.

“Each player represented Volksrust High School with pride and excellent sportsmanship,” concluded Steyn.
