Volksrust High leaders build skills at RCL function

The student leaders had a chance to unwind, celebrate their hard work, and build stronger relationships with one another.

Volksrust High School’s Representative Council of Learners (RCL) members from Grade 9 to 12 enjoyed an evening of growth, teamwork and fun at the RCL function held on Wednesday (May 13).

The event gave student leaders an opportunity to connect outside the classroom while strengthening important leadership skills.

Learners reflect on emotional intelligence

The evening began with an engaging ’emotional intelligence development’ session. During the session, learners reflected on communication, self-awareness, teamwork and leadership.

They were encouraged to better understand themselves and those around them – an essential quality for effective leaders within the school environment.

Grade 10 team wins lively charades contest

The highlight of the evening was a lively game of charades, which filled the venue with laughter and excitement.

The Grade 10 RCL group impressed everyone with their enthusiasm and teamwork, emerging as winners of the competition.

Learners also enjoyed boerewors rolls and had time to socialise and strengthen friendships across all grades. The relaxed atmosphere gave leaders a chance to unwind, celebrate their hard work, and build stronger relationships with one another.

The evening was a great success and served as a reminder that leadership is not only about responsibility, but also about connection, collaboration and creating memorable moments together.
