Three Grade 5 learners from Monument Primary proudly represented the school at the District Spelling Bee semi-finals, held at the Ladysmith Town Library on July 22. The learners earned their place in the competition after emerging as the top three spellers during the school’s Term 2 spelling round.

Congratulations to Refilwe Shabalala, Nkosazana Mthethwa and Aphiwe Mbatha on their outstanding achievement in reaching the district semi-finals. During the competition, the learners were challenged to spell a range of English words accurately and confidently under time pressure. They demonstrated determination, enthusiasm and excellent sportsmanship throughout the event.

“Although the learners did not advance to the next stage of the competition, reaching the district semis is a significant accomplishment. Their dedication, hard work and courage were evident and they represented Monument Primary with distinction. Their achievement serves as an inspiration to fellow learners and reflects the values of perseverance and commitment,” said school principal Mr Rich.
