Monument Primary School is celebrating a remarkable achievement in junior volleyball after the uThukela District U/11 team finished third overall in KwaZulu-Natal at the KZN Provincial Tournament held in Durban.

The achievement highlights the growing strength of young volleyball talent within the district, with the uThukela team competing against some of the province’s top young players.

Monument well represented

Monument Primary School played a significant role in the district team’s success, with seven of the eight girls selected for the uThukela District U/11 team coming from Monument.

The strong representation is a testament to the dedication, commitment and hard work of the young athletes, as well as the support and development of volleyball at the school.

Four selected for Nationals

The success story continued with four Monument Primary School girls earning selection to represent KwaZulu-Natal at the National Tournament in December.

The players are:

• Mbalenhle Ndlovu
• Siphosethu Mthethwa
• Azile Hlophe
• Saphiwa Mntambo

Proud moment for Monument

These volleyball achievements have brought immense pride to the school community. The girls’ journey from representing the school to competing at district level, progressing to the KZN Provincial Tournament and now earning provincial selection is an inspiring example of what can be achieved through determination and perseverance.

With the National Tournament ahead in December, the four young athletes will now turn their attention to the next challenge as they prepare to represent KwaZulu-Natal on the national stage.
