Wacky Wednesday: The world’s weirdest school uniforms
Discover unusual school uniforms from around the world, from traditional robes to bright colours and formal styles.
Here are some of the craziest / weirdest school uniforms around the world. Some are cool, some are just… confusing.
Bhutan – Traditional robes EVERY day
Students don’t wear ‘modern’ uniforms at all. Boys wear a gho (knee-length robe tied with a belt). Girls wear a kira (long dress and jacket). It is basically like going to school in cultural ceremony clothes daily.

Japan – Anime-style sailor outfits
Girls wear the famous sailor-style uniforms with bows and pleated skirts. Boys wear military-style jackets (gakuran). It looks like something straight out of anime… because anime copied it.

Kenya – Super bright colours
Some schools have very bold, vibrant uniforms (like bright green and pink collars). Definitely not subtle.

United Kingdom – Old-school formal (like mini office workers)
Blazers, ties, badges, formal shoes. Some look like they are going to a business meeting instead of school.

Sri Lanka – All white uniforms
Students wear pure white outfits. Looks angelic… but imagine the stress of keeping it clean all day.

Myanmar – Bright tunics and sandals
Some students wear colourful tunics with sashes. Almost like traditional festival clothing.

Fun ‘weird facts’
Some uniforms were originally designed to show social class differences, not equality. In some countries, uniforms were basically national identity clothing, not just school wear.
Honestly
What counts as ‘crazy’ really depends on what you are used to. If you showed a South African uniform to someone in Japan, they might think yours is the weird one.
