FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OFFICER VACANCY Finance and Administration Officer Shumar Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented and finance-driven professional to join our team as a Finance and Administration Officer. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the business, while supporting administrative processes and ensuring strong governance and compliance practices within a dynamic engineering environment. Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Officer (Primary Function)
•Manage and coordinate day-to-day financial operations and internal controls.
•Maintain accurate financial records using Sage Pastel (essential).
•Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
•Monitor and manage budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial performance.
•Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations.
•Coordinate payroll processing and ensure accuracy of salary administration.
•Support annual financial audits and statutory submissions.
•Ensure compliance with tax, VAT, and regulatory requirements.
•Provide financial insights and support to management decision-making. 2. Administration Officer (Secondary Function)
•Manage office administration and business support processes.
•Maintain company records, policies, and filing systems.
•Oversee procurement administration and supplier documentation.
•Manage company insurance, contracts, and licences.
•Coordinate general office operations and facilities.
•Support process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
•Assist with employee administration, including onboarding/offboarding documentation.
•Maintain employee records and support payroll data preparation (HR functions embedded). 3. Governance and Compliance *` Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
•Support compliance with B-BBEE, labour, and statutory reporting requirements.
•Monitor business risks and recommend corrective actions.
•Maintain high standards of confidentiality, ethics, and corporate governance. Minimum Requirements
•3`5 years` experience in a finance-focused role (engineering, manufacturing, or construction advantageous).
•Strong proficiency in Sage Pastel accounting software (non- negotiable).
•Solid understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliations, VAT, and financial reporting.
•Working knowledge of South African tax and statutory compliance requirements.
•Exposure to payroll processing and employee administration (advantageous).
•Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. What We Offer:
