Editor – I work with Aletta Marx here at the Public Safety offices. She informed me that it came to her attention that a heavily pregnant dog was being neglected by her owners. She paid the owner to take the poor animal away from its circumstances.
This is not the first time; she is truly a ‘Fur-angel’. When she sees a distressed animal, she will interfere! She collects poor deserted animals off the streets, and feeds and takes care of them.
Unfortunately, our council’s bylaws restrict the number of animals an owner may keep. Our AACL kennels are overflowing, so are all the animals going to go one way – be euthanised and then be dumped at the municipal dumps?
Please consider a weekly adoption page in the Gazette, and facebook, starting with the pregnant dogs whose puppies will be born soon.
Also, where the community can get involved in taking dogs for ‘walkies’ over the weekend.
We all know of the enormous and sad task Annamarie Koen is performing. The community just has to get involved – if not time, then at least by donating to an SMS number.
Kind regards.
