The fifth annual Relay for Life was once again a tremendous success.

The words on everyone’s lips were the same; it just gets bigger and better.

Even team names took on a new twist. This year it was the Tumornators.

Another outstanding feature of this great event is the togetherness it fosters.

Nobody ever feels a stranger, all comrades for a good cause.

Definitely no trace of a race.

Some loud mouths could learn from this relay, which is blind to racial prejudice, deaf to hate speech and everything that divides.

Yes, this Relay unites.

Cancer survivors, as always, were spoilt for choice in every respect.

Their dining area was five-star.

The passionate speech by the young cancer survivor gave us all hope.

Forderville Primary School, a state-aided school has once again proved what can be done when the team leader is a visionary.

The school boasts a race-track, a beautiful hall, neat parking areas, sports facilities and well-maintained buildings and gardens that create a conducive learning environment.

This Trojan is supported by a very dedicated staff who do not wait for handouts but make things happen with their hands-on approach.

In describing Mr AB Sookraj, the Principal, the following words come to mind: –

“And still we gazed and still the wonder grew,

That one small head should carry all it knew.” The Village School Master.
